The San Francisco 49ers put injured running back Kendall Hunter through waivers this week and now that he has passed though unclaimed, they must now decide what to do with him.

One thing that he will not be doing is playing much this season as the torn ACL will have him out yet again for an entire year.

According to multiple reports, the San Francisco 49ers have decided to place the pending free agent running back on IR.

It’s indeed not that surprising that Hunter cleared waivers as he tore his ACL and is a free agent at the end of the season. A team who really wanted him could have claimed him and then signed him to an extension, but Hunter has twice suffered season-ending knee injuries which is not going to put him up for a payday this offseason.
