Chip Kelly is a polarizing guy, as he went from being laughed at for trying to change NFL offenses to being a genius who is now seeing his methods copied after just his first season ever coaching at the NFL level.

But he still doesn’t care what you think about him and that’s part of what makes him such a polarizing figure. He does things his own way and one of those things he does is not really care about things like depth charts. As pointed out and passed along by Philly.com, Chip Kelly is a man who cares very little about depth charts and would like you to know that about him.

"“Seriously, the depth chart, I don’t care,” Kelly said. “I think [Eagles PR Director] Derek [Boyko] did it. I mean, it’s absolutely nothing. I know we’re going to get questions on it, and I’ll be honest with you, I do not care. . . . I said a long time ago, it’s written in sand, it’s written in water, it can be written in anything. That depth chart means absolutely nothing. The only reason we make one is because they tell us to make one. Call it whatever you want to call it.”"

Now, obviously Kelly cares about depth charts a little bit but probably more from a stand point of he knows what he has and where he has them. Then again, Kelly isn’t afraid to line a running back up at wide receiver or a tight end at fullback, so depth charts really are pretty useless to Chip Kelly when you consider that all he wants his team to be able to do is run around really fast.
