Kevin Love will not return to Team USA despite Cavaliers deal

The Minnesota Timberwolves have agreed to trade Kevin Love to the Cleveland Cavaliers — this time officially — but that won’t change any of the All-Star power forward’s other plans around basketball.

Love infamously pulled out of Team USA participation this summer over the trade drama surrounding him. Now that a trade has been agreed upon though, there were some wondering if that meant Love would re-join Team USA but all of that has been put to rest thanks to the latest report confirming that Love will not be helping the American’s World Cup bid this month.
This really isn’t all that surprising given the fact that Love didn’t want to risk injury by playing for Team USA and after the Paul George injury, no one can blame Love for skipping out on Team USA now more than ever.
Of course, he may change his mind but Love has other things to think about and playing for Team USA is not among his list of things he’s dying to do at the moment.
