We’ve made it! Football is back, and with that comes the over analyzing of the preseason, trying to find any advantage we can for our upcoming drafts. Many fantasy champions are made in the preseason. From analyzing rookies to scoping out all of the off-season moves, I will try to help you prepare as well. We’re going to start this series by listing key take aways from last night’s bevy of preseason games. St. Louis Rams vs New Orleans Saints
- Zac Stacy ran well last night. He ran for 22 yards on four carries, and had no negative runs, which is always a positive for a sophomore running back. Stacy remains a late first round running back. He should not have a problem reaching that kind of production, and so far is showing no signs of a sophomore slump.
- Mark Ingram ran for 83 yards and a touchdown on eight carries. Yeah, you read that right. Maybe the contract year finally woke Mark Ingram up, or it could just be his yearly monster game. Keep an eye out for him during training camp and preseason. He could move up in the depth charts and be a nice little sleeper pickup with little risk involved.
- Khiry Robinson also ran well, running for 23 yards on five carries. However, his night was overshadowed by Mark Ingram’s performance his hype was silenced, at least for the moment.
- Brandin Cooks has been the second rookie wide receiver drafted after Sammy Watkins and with Drew Brees under center, it is warranted. Cooks showed off some nice moves last night evading a defender with a stop and go move for a touchdown. Do not over draft him though. I would much rather target someone like Kelvin Benjamin with my 11th rounder than taking Cooks in the fourth round. There is less risk with Benjamin, which means more of a reward if he plays well.
