Andrew Wiggins, the No. 1 overall pick in June’s NBA Draft, told reporters in the Toronto area that whatever happens regarding reports he will be dealt by the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Minnesota Timberwolves as part of a package for All-Star Kevin Love, he just wants to play.

"“Whatever happens is out of my control,” Wiggins said, according to the Associated Press. “I’m not worrying about it right now.”"

Wiggins was in suburban Toronto for a promotional event at his former elementary school and said being the top overall pick brought with it an extra level of scrutiny.

"“There’s more eyes on me, more criticizing, stuff like that,” Wiggins said."

His coach for his one season at Kansas, Bill Self, made some headlines over the weekend when he said that Wiggins told him he’d welcome a trade to Minnesota rather than playing in the shadow of LeBron James in Cleveland.

"“Even though in a weird way everybody would love the opportunity to play with LeBron because you’re guaranteed winning, for the longevity of his career, he needs to develop that mindset to be the guy, for him to be great, and I think being in Minnesota will help him to that,” Self said Sunday."

Wiggins, who was at Self’s basketball camp on Sunday, deflected when asked about Self’s assessment.

"“Anywhere, any team,” Wiggins said. “I can play anywhere.”"

Wiggins was a consensus All-American in his lone year with the Jayhawks, averaging 17.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.2 steals and one block in 32.8 minutes per game, shooting .448/.341/.775.

In four games with the Cavaliers’ entry in the Las Vegas Summer League, Wiggins averaged a team leading 15.5 points per game, along with 3.5 rebounds, 1.5 blocks and 1.3 steals per game, but shot just .405/.154/.703.
