Hulk Hogan celebrates his birthday on WWE Raw (GIF)

On Monday night, the WWE celebrated the career of the most popular and well-known wrestler of all-time, Hulk Hogan.

More from WWE

Hogan gained popularity in the WWE (then WWF) in the 1980’s, rising to the top of the wrestling world with his Hulkamania gimmick where he was the hero and would tell children to eat their vitamins and say their prayers taking down each and every villain in wrestling.  Years later, he did the same in Ted Turner’s WCW but eventually turned into a heel, leading the revolutionary nWo, “turning his back” on the WCW fans. He came back into the WWE in the early 2000’s in the nWo and then once again became a face and one of the most popular wrestlers in the world. His fame has led to movies, television shows, a reality show about his family and more t-shirt sales than any of us can probably imagine.

Lately, he has been helping the WWE promote their WWE Network, an online library filled with old shows, documentaries and original programing, which the company has had some trouble and lost some money on, causing several firings.

On Monday, Hogan celebrated his 61st birthday and the WWE decided to throw him a party. They covered the arena in Hogan’s patented colors- red and yellow and had long-time WWE and WCE announcer “Mean” Gene Okerlund and Hogan’s former manager, “The Mouth of the South” Jimmy Hart introduce Hogan, who did all of his signature moves as he got to the ring. The entire company also was at the front ramp as he was introduced and several other former wrestlers came to greet Hogan and wish him well.

Below you can see Hogan entering the ring.
