File this one under wishful thinking, but the Indiana Pacers are under the belief that there’s a chance that Paul George may return this season from his brutal leg injury his suffered at the beginning of August in the Team USA scrimmage for the World Cup.

George’s ankle almost snapped off, and returning even for the start of next season is something that is in doubt because of the injury, but the Pacers aren’t giving up hope that they’re going to get their superstar back for this upcoming season.
Of course, the Pacers aren’t expecting George back, they’re simply hoping he does come back which is completely different from being under the impression his injury wasn’t serious enough to alter his career.
Medical science is so advanced though that ACL injuries aren’t fatal to careers anymore, just ask running back Adrian Peterson about that, and George’s leg injury and his recovery could be the next major advancement in making sure athletes aren’t struck down by a single bad injury.
