Orioles Manny Machado sprains right knee (Video)
Baltimore Orioles infielder Manny Machado suffered a pretty gruesome injury when his legs pretzeled during an at-bat. He collapsed at the play mid-at-bat in the bottom of the third, the young star didn’t get up immediately, grimacing and taking deep breaths. After the AL East leading Orioles 11-3 win over the Yankees, there were crutches beside his locker. The injury, however, is not expected to be severe.

“There’s a chance we may have dodged a bullet,” manager Buck Showalter said, according to the AP.
Machado will have an MRI on Tuesday morning determine the injury’s gravity. The results will determine whether a stint on the DL is necessary
“We’ll just wait for the results,” Machado said. “Hopefully it is on the good side other than the bad.”
In replacement of the 2013 All-Star, Chris Davis hammered a two-run homer to right field, which gave the Orioles the lead. Showalter attempted to keep Machado’s injury from hanging as a dampener for the moment.
“We’re not going to get caught up in that gloom and doom and the sky is falling. Hopefully we don’t have to DL him and he’s back in a few days. Who knows? That’s the way I look at it. Same way with J.J. Maybe he comes in tomorrow and ready to go,” Showalter said, via CSN Baltimore.
