Jeremy Maclin has been toasting Patriots cornerback Darrelle Revis. The Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver has had a good joint practice with the Patriots. It was just Maclin’s luck that he tweaked his hamstring soon after during Wednesday’s practice, and so he stop playing early. It seems just as the former Missouri standout gets going, he gets injured.
McLane also reports that Maclin was icing his right knee, the same one with the torn ACL, although that appears to be a precautionary measure. Maclin still hopes to play in Friday’s preseason game.
After so much has been made of the Maclin-Revis competition at the joint practices, it would be a shame for Maclin to miss a game where they would go head-to-head on Friday. With the Maclin’s injury history, it would almost be worth letting him sit out if there’s any question of his health.

Maclin did not play last year, but has exceeded 700 yards receiving in all of his four other years. He has 26 career touchdowns. He is the Eagles No. 1 receiver when healthy — but yet again, he’s made his way into injury territory. Eagles fans hope that he gets healthy and stays healthy. In Chip Kelly’s offense, there’s no telling what a receiver with his ball skills, speed and size can do.
