Raiders owner Mark Davis won’t seek extension on Oakland Coliseum deal
By Dan Zinski
Just one more piece of info to add to the growing pile of evidence suggesting that Raiders owner Mark Davis is seeking to get his butt out of Oakland or at the very least leverage the city into doing something permanent about the stadium situation.

Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle has learned that Davis has not asked for an extension on the team’s current deal with O.co Coliseum and says he does not plan to do so. The Raiders last extended their lease in November 2013, an agreement that chopped $2 million off their rent, but that deal runs out after the 2014 season.
With no new stadium coming for the Raiders in Oakland, the only other option to keep the team in the Bay Area would involve installing them in Levi’s Stadium but Davis has expressed his displeasure with that prospect.
Davis has made plenty of other moves in recent weeks to show that he wants to get out of Oakland, or at the very least pressure Oakland into giving him a new stadium. The owner met recently with officials in San Antonio to hear their ideas about moving the team there, and also has agreed to joint practices with the Cowboys in Los Angeles as a way of drumming up talk about the L.A. market being a future home for the Raiders.
With this latest report, the ball is once again in Oakland’s court. Will they convince Davis to hang around in O.co Coliseum for one more year, perhaps reducing his rent yet again? Or will Davis play real hard ball this time and refuse to give in on another short-term extension to remain in the crumbling and occasionally sewage-filled Oakland stadium?
