In a season that has already decimated by injuries, the Texas Rangers are now losing their ace pitcher too.
According to the team’s Twitter account, Yu Darvish has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with inflammation in his right elbow.
John Blake, the VP of communications for the Rangers, passes along the following:
It just had to be an injury to his throwing elbow, didn’t it? As if we have not had enough top starting pitchers lost to elbow injuries in 2014, now we have to worry about Darvish too.

It just doesn’t seem right, and surely the Rangers are just throwing their hands up in the air at this point. On the season Darvish has been his usual outstanding self: 10-7 with a 3.06 ERA and 11.3 K/9. To date he had logged 144.1 innings with a total of 182 strikeouts.
Had the Rangers been their usual, playoff contending selves this season, Darvish might have been a Cy Young candidate. No such luck, and now the 27-year-old ace will miss time on the back end of a season that has been utterly forgettable in Arlington.
