Dallas Cowboys won’t rush Dez Bryant contract talks
By Josh Sanchez
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant enters the 2014-15 NFL regular season in the final year of his contract. There was some initial progress between both sides as they worked towards a deal before the season-opener, but now that is looking increasingly unlikely.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones recently spoke about Bryant’s contract situation, without giving too much information and by stating the team will not rush through the contract negotiation process.
As far as Jones is concerned, the Cowboys have a number of options that would keep Bryant in Dallas for the foreseeable future — including the franchise tag.
“I don’t talk about these contracts that are in this particular stage, which is a negotiation, whether it be preliminary or whether it be at some advanced stage in the negotiation, so let’s just say we’re working towards those kinds of things,” Jones said on KRLD, via the Dallas Morning News.
“We have Dez for several more years, as it would be under contract as well as with the league-type structure that’s available to us with the franchise [tag] and the transition [tag] and all that. It’s an important thing. We think Dez has made a lot of progress, but it’s something that is going to be very impactful on our team, so it’s just not necessary to move at any faster rate than we’re moving.”
Bryant already has 25 touchdown catches in his career, and if everything goes according to plan he will continue to add to that total while in a Cowboys uniform.
