Fantasy Football is always exciting, even when you are having a bad season. I cannot preach it enough, that no matter how bad you start, you can always come back. My brother started out 0-5 two years ago and came all the way back to go 7-6 and make the playoffs.

As some of you know, I have a Facebook page called Fantasy Football Insight and every year someone tells me “I quit, I’m 0-5”. Winning and losing in Fantasy Football can be the difference between picking up a Keenan Allen or a Nick Foles on the waiver wire and not getting either of them. If you start out 0-5 but do well on the waiver wire, you are going to win some games and give yourself a chance to win.
Last year, I had a special fantasy season that started out really bad. I started 0-2 and then I made a trade that changed everything . I got rid of Tom Brady and Marques Colston and got Matthew Stafford and Stevan Ridley in return, which ended up working out fantastically. I went on to win 14 straight fantasy games, and ended up winning the championship.
In my five years of playing fantasy football, I have never had a season quite like that. In order to have those seasons, you have to nail the sleepers. Like those of you that nabbed Josh Gordon did last year.
Here is a list of the players that I like and don’t like at each position, starting with the quarterbacks:

These will be the quarterbacks I like currently going outside the top-12 at quarterback.
Ryan Tannehill (Miami Dolphins)- It’s really hard to find an excuse to hate on Ryan Tannehill this season. Bill Lazor was the quarterbacks coach in Philadelphia last season for Nick Foles’s great season. Now Lazor is the offensive coordinator for Miami, and he is bringing over the Chip Kelly offense with him. This will be the second year with Mike Wallace at wide receiver for Tannehill, and you would think that they have developed some chemistry. If not for the final two games of the season, where he finished with a combined ten fantasy points, he would have been a top-12 quarterback last year.
Carson Palmer (Arizona Cardinals)- On November 19th last season, Bruce Arians said that Palmer now has complete understanding of the offense. In the final six games, the Cardinals went 4-2, and the two losses were by a combined six points. The six games were against the Colts, Eagles, Rams, Titans, Seahawks, and 49ers. In those 6 games, Carson Palmer had a 10:7 touchdown to interception ratio. In the previous ten games, he had a 12:15 touchdown to interception ratio.
Deep Sleeper:
Geno Smith (New York Jets)- In the last four games of the season, Geno Smith was a top-5 fantasy quarterback. The last four games were the fantasy playoffs, meaning that if you started Geno Smith, you were likely a champion. Now the Jets give him Eric Decker at receiver and Chris Johnson in the backfield. That should only help him out.

Players I don’t like currently going in the top-12 at quarterback
Russell Wilson (Seattle Seahawks)- Do any of you remember Joe Flacco? I get it, Wilson can actually run around. However, there are some similar situations between Joe Flacco’s and Russell Wilson’s Super Bowl seasons. Flacco lost Anquan Boldin after the season. Wilson lost his number one receiver in Golden Tate. The identity of the Seahawks isn’t going to change that much. Seattle is going to run the football. I can only see Wilson as a top 12 guy, if Percy Harvin plays all 16-games this season. As well all know, that is a big if.
Cam Newton (Carolina Panthers)- I could go back and forth with putting Cam Newton as a top-12 quarterback. Trust me ,I have. Cam Newton is due for a huge pay day, and is coming off of ankle surgery. Do the Panthers let their franchise quarterback run around when he is about to get a one-hundred million dollar contract? I don’t think so. The offensive line is worse this year than last year and Cam Newton’s rushing touchdowns have gone down every year. This year should be more of the same.
Come back tomorrow for the running backs!
