The New England Patriots got off to a rough start against the Philadelphia Eagles when Tom Brady threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown.

But after that, things started to go a lot smoother, as Brady marched down the field and got himself a touchdown to Kenbrell Thompkins and rookie Jimmy Garoppolo got in on the fun as well. After Brady’s touchdown, Garoppolo managed to throw a touchdown pass to fullback James Develin to get the Patriots a 14-7 lead over the Eagles.

The notable thing about this is that Garoppolo entered the game before Ryan Mallett did, which means that the Patriots are trying to get their rookie quarterback as much time as he needs to get into to backup role behind Brady. What this also does is further fuels trade rumors that Mallet will be moved at some point in the near future, and the better Garoppolo plays, the more that Mallet sitting on the bench is going to be highlighted.
