Paul George is the talk of basketball at the moment for a few different reasons, but one of them is not because of his injury but because of his uniform change. George is changing his number from No. 24 to No. 13 this season so he can roll with the nickname ‘PG13’, but the change isn’t as new as we think.

While the change is now official, George has been thinking about the number change since before his rookie season in 2010, and applied for the change a few seasons ago.
It’s unclear if George pulled his application back or if it just got lost in the shuffle, but this whole PG13 nickname and uniform change is not something tht is a brand new idea to anyone close to George.
It’s interesting to note just how long it took George to get his number changed, as he applied a few seasons ago and has been thinking about it since before his rookie season in 2010, but it’s just now happening.
Perhaps it’s best that it happens now, as George is going to be returning a new player from his injury and having a new number and nickname is as symbolic as ever.
