The Colorado Rockies have activated outfield Michael Cuddyer from the disabled list. He is expected to be in the lineup Saturday night for the Rockies game against the Cincinnati Reds at Coors Field.

Cuddyer has been out since June 6th with a shoulder injury. He was injured while diving for a ground ball against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
He has played well when he could stay on the field this year, hitting .317 with five home runs, three stolen bases, and 16 RBI in 31 games.
Cuddyer’s return comes at a great time for the Rockies. They found out earlier in the week that both star shortstop Troy Tulowitzki and star outfielder Carlos Gonzalez are out for the remainder of the season. The 35-year-old Cuddyer is expected to hit in the middle of the Rockies’ order to help produce the runs that Tulowitzki and Gonzalez did earlier in the year.
Last season, Cuddyer won a silver slugger award, hitting .331 with 20 homers and 84 RBI in 130 games. The team hopes he can get back to that level of production, and soon.
The Minnesota Twins selected Cuddyer ninth overall in the 1997 MLB draft. He played for parts of 11 seasons for the Twins before signing with the Rockies as a free agent back in 2012.
The Cincinnati Reds recalled Dylan Axelrod to make the start for the team tonight. Cuddyer will get his first hacks at the MLB level in over two months against the 25-year-old Axelrod, who was brought up when Homer Bailey landed on the disabled list earlier today.
