Jordan Matthews stood out both preseason games he played. In the first game against the Bears, he stunk — it was outstanding. In the second game against the Patriots, he rocked — again, it was outstanding. He had nine catches for 104 yards. He’s not projected to be getting playing time this regular season — there are too many talented, experienced receivers ahead of him on the depth chart. Perhaps that’s why he is not excited about his impressive outing.

“To be honest, I still feel the way I felt after last game, same chip on my shoulder I’m going to have after this game,” he said, via CSN Philly.
It’s only one game — and it was a preseason game. It was a very good game where he put up great numbers and displayed excellent confidence that was lacking in his previous outing. But Matthews scoffs at numbers.
“You can’t just look at the stats and let that tell the story,” Matthews said. “There’s a lot of room for improvement out there on the field. There were a lot of plays I wish I could go back and get. Can’t wait to get back on the practice field and continue to work on things I messed up on.”
Like every good rookie, he knows how much he has yet to learn. And Like any good football player, he’s got his eyes on the next prize.
He said: “I can’t wait till [practice] Sunday to get back to work and get better and get ready for the Steelers.”
