This would definitely hurt Pead more than the Rams, but at any rate, none of us like to see this kind of news.
The Rams drafted Pead in the second round, 50th overall, over the 2012 NFL draft out of the University of Cincinnati. He was considered one of the better running back prospects in the draft.
He has not cashed in on that promise so far in the NFL. He has just 17 rushing attempts for 75 yards in his career. He has also caught 14 passes for 94 yards, but has not yet scored a touchdown.
Preseason touches are key for a guy like Pead, who is entering his third NFL season. He needs to make some plays to secure his spot on the roster. If this injury is serious, he likely will not have the chance.
