The Atlanta Braves thought they were putting together a masterful lineup when the added both B.J. and Justin Upton to their roster but so far the move hasn’t paid off the way the team would have liked.

B.J. Upton has been a disaster for the Braves as his massive free agent contract looks like one of the worst in team history and is a blemish on the front office’s record. There’s also no easy fix for the mistake either as there isn’t much that the Braves can do to rid themselves of Upton and his deal.
According to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe, the Braves are in a bind when it comes to B.J. Upton as he has three years left on his contract with the team but has less than zero trade value at this point.
"There’s probably no chance the Braves would release Upton with three years remaining on his contract, which may go down as one of the worst in history. Upton is getting roasted by the Atlanta media. The Braves have no choice but to ride it out because he’s untradeable. They tried him at leadoff and that was a disaster. Upton has a .197 average with 18 homers and 56 RBIs in 826 at-bats with the Braves over the last two years for an OPS of .586."
Upton may turn it around but the fact of the matter is he’s struggling bad and the Braves have no choice other than to ride out their mistake and hope that it rights itself before it’s too late or the hole being burned in their pocket is too great.
