Cincinnati Bengals vs New York Jets
- Both Geno Smith and Chris Johnson were terrible last night. They both posted deceiving stat lines, but most of the production came when the Bengals pulled their first team defense. Smith finished 10 of 13 for 98 yards, and Johnson went 63 yards on 10 carries. Both have bust written all over them. I would not draft either of them right now.
- On the other hand, Andy Dalton was perfect last night, going 8 of 8 for 144 yards and a touchdown. Dalton has really stepped it up after receiving his new lofty contract, and is looking to finally get past his playoff mishaps. Although Dalton cracked the top five quarterback rankings last season, I still see Dalton as a high end QB2 option.
- Giovani Bernard ended his night with 22 yards on seven carries and one touchdown. The important thing to note here is that he received goal line duties, and he successfully converted his attempt. With Jeremy Hill’s injury last night, Bernard could get more goal line carries, bringing his fantasy stock up.
- The Jets had no chance with all three of their top cornerbacks out. A.J. Green racked up 69 yards on just three catches. Mohammed Sanu had 56 yards on only two catches. The Jet defense has a lot of work to do before the regular season starts.
