The Minnesota Vikings will more than likely be taking just two quarterbacks into this upcoming season and neither one is going to be Christian Ponder.

The former first-round pick has been a flop for the Vikings and is partially the reason the last regime lost their jobs as he was the wrong choice for the wrong coaching staff. But there might be a place in the NFL for the former Florida State quarterback and that place may be out west in the Bay Area.
According to NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah, the San Francisco 49ers are a team to potentially watch when it comes to making a move to get Ponder and see what he looks like in a completely different setting other than Minnesota.
Ponder is an intersting choice for the 49ers as they’ve been cycling through backup quarterbacks rather frequently from Colt McCoy to Blaine Gabbert, but adding Ponder may put him in the setting he needs to thrive.
It’s not as though Ponder would supplant Colin Kaepernick as the starter, but just like how being a Tom Brady backup makes you a better quarterback, Jim Harbaugh may be able to mold Ponder into the quarterback he should be rather than whatever he is now.
