Andre Drummond’s place on the Pistons’ roster is safe but the same cannot be said about his role with Team USA as the World Cup approaches. After failing to impress in the American’s first exhibition game against Brazil, Drummond appears to be on the bubble when it comes to roster cuts.
According to the Detroit Free Press, Andre Drummond is likely to get cut from the Team USA roster before the August 30th start of the World Cup.
"Andre Drummond’s days on the U.S. men’s national basketball team might be numbered. With Plumlee playing well Saturday and Anthony Davis and Cousins almost locks to make the team, Drummond appeared to be the odd man out."
The roster needs to be cut down to 12 players before the World Cup starts and that means some notable names are going to be staying home when Team USA heads to Spain next week. Drummond appears to be one of those names but given how dangerous the World Cup has been so far in terms of injuries, staying home might not be the worst thing to ever happen to Drummond or the Pistons.
