The Dallas Cowboys selected defensive end Demarcus Lawrence with their second-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, with hopes of having the former Boise State standout bolster their defensive line which was retooled in the offseason.

Unfortunately, Lawrence suffered a broken foot this summer and underwent surgery in late-July.

According to the Dallas Morning News, Lawrence currently remains on crutches.

While he was never expected to be healthy in time to contribute at the beginning of the season, the current belief is that Lawrence will miss the first three to six games of the 2014-15 regular season as he continues to rehab from the injury.

Lawrence will eventually make his way back to the field to show the Cowboys what he has to offer, but until then it could be a very slow start to the season for the team’s pass rush.

For an already horrid defense, that is not what they want to hear.
