Of course, both players chose to remain with their current teams and the Rockets inked Washington Wizards’ free agent swingman Trevor Ariza to a four-year, $32 million deal. In order to make room for Bosh or Anthony, the Rockets dealt away center Omer Asik and point guard Jeremy Lin. They also saw guard Francisco Garcia opt out of the final year of his option.
The Rockets need more players who can contribute this season, specifically shooters and on Thursday, they reached a deal to bring Garcia back on a one-year contract.
Marc Berman of Fox 26 in Houston first reported the news and Rockets’ general manager confirmed it by welcoming Garcia back on twitter.
Morey is referencing Garcia’s performance for the Domincan Republic, who lost to Team USA on Wednesday night.
Garcia averaged 5.7 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game while shooting 40.1% from the floor, 35.8% from beyond the arc and 52.6% from the free throw line. Garcia was originally selected with the 23rd-overall pick in the first round of the 2005 NBA Draft. He has averaged 8.0 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game while shooting 43.0% from the field, 36.1% from three and 80.2% from the charity stripe during his nine-year NBA career.
