The Los Angeles Dodgers activated shortstop Hanley Ramirez Sunday from the 15-day disabled list, the first day he was eligible for reinstatement.

According to the team’s official Twitter account:

The Dodgers made roster space for Ramirez by optioning shortstop Erisbel Arruebarrena to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Arruebarrena played in three games while Ramirez was out, going 2-for-9 with two runs and an RBI. For the season, Arruebarrena is 7-for-25 with a double and three RBI in 11 games.

Ramirez last played Aug. 8 at Milwaukee, leaving after the top of the first inning with a right oblique strain. According to Hardball Talk, manager Don Mattingly told reporters that Ramirez has no lingering issues with the injury and will play every day down the stretch.

Ramirez is hitting .277/.367/.455 in 100 games for Los Angeles this season, with 50 runs, 27 doubles, 12 home runs and 58 RBI.

Ramirez was a three-time All-Star with the Florida Marlins and won a batting title in 2009, when he hit .342. Florida acquired Ramirez from the Boston Red Sox in November 2005 as part of the deal that sent right-hander Josh Beckett, third baseman Mike Lowell and reliever Guillermo Mota to Boston.

Ramirez went on to earn National League Rookie of the Year honors in 2006 after hitting .292/.353/.480 in 158 games, scoring 119 runs with 46 doubles, 11 triples, 17 homers, 59 RBI and 51 stolen bases.

The Dodgers acquired Ramirez and left-hander Randy Choate from the Marlins in July 2012 for right-handers Nathan Eovaldi and Scott McGough.
