Senior defensive tackles Carl Davis and Louis Trinca-Pasat are the team’s starters and one of the best interior defensive line pairs in the entire country. However, Cooper provided some much needed depth behind the Iowa starters.
Cooper underwent season-ending surgery, though there was no word on the exact injury.
The announcement was made by Cooper on his Facebook page.
Cooper wrote:
Last season, Cooper played in all of the team’s games as part of the Iowa defensive line rotation.
Cooper added 18 tackles an a sack for the Hawkeyes defense in 2013.
Without Cooper in the line up, sophomore Jaleel Johnson and redshirt freshman Nathan Bazata are expected to be the No. 3 and No. 4 players on the depth chart.
