New York Jets suspend AWOL cornerback Dimitri Patterson
By Dan Zinski
Now we know why Dimitri Patterson felt that sudden urge to text Josina Anderson and slam reports of his being AWOL as “comical.” It’s because Patterson just found out he is being suspended and knew people would start ripping him.

The Jets on Monday announced that they are suspending Patterson indefinitely after the cornerback failed to show for last Friday’s preseason game. GM John Idzik says the Jets will “gather more information on what led to [Patterson’s] behavior.”
In a text message received by ESPN’s Josina Anderson, Patterson said he’s okay and not going AWOL.
John Idzik and Rex Ryan reportedly met with Patterson Sunday night after not knowing where he was most of the weekend, but would not divulge details of the meeting.
Patterson was in line to potentially start at cornerback for the Jets at the time of his strange disappearance.
While giving remarks to reporters on Sunday, John Idzik seemed truly perplexed by Patterson’s disappearance (via the New York Post):
"“That’s what’s really baffling,” Idzik said. “Dimitri has been very engaged. He’s been very attentive in meetings. We felt he was on the upswing in rehabbing his injuries. He’s been helpful as a veteran to our young guys. … There really wasn’t any warning. There was nothing to indicate this kind of behavior.”"
Maybe he just didn’t want to play in a boring preseasong game?
