Tiger Woods recently announced he won’t be golfing in professional competition again until at least December. He hopes to allow his repaired back and knee time to fully heal and recover after having missed the cut at the PGA Championship. Now it appears he’ll also take that time to further work on his swing with a new coach.

Woods announced on his website that he is parting ways with swing coach Sean Foley as he prepares for an elongated break from professional golfing competition.
“I’d like to thank Sean for his help as my coach and for his friendship,” Woods said. “Sean is one of the outstanding coaches in golf today, and I know he will continue to be successful with the players working with him. With my next tournament not until my World Challenge event at Isleworth in Orlando, this is the right time to end our professional relationship.”
Woods hired Foley in 2010 after parting ways with Hank Haney. He has not won a major championship in seven years now and while it’s impossible to tell what affects what, it’s clear that his swing was not enough to overcome injuries. Whether that’s Foley’s fault or just a matter of Woods getting into a physical state necessary to properly compete once more is yet to be seen.
Foley was the third swing coach for Woods. Haney coached Woods from 2004-10 and was preceded by Butch Harmon, who coached Tiger for the ten years previous.
