The Clippers, who had the third-best record in the NBA last season, showed that they aren’t that far from contending and have spent the offseason trying to improve.
They didn’t have enough money to land a player like Paul Pierce but they were able to add depth in the front court, signing Spencer Hawes. The Clippers would still like to add another big man to help defend the rim.
According to Sam Amick of The USA Today, the Clippers are hosting Milwaukee Bucks’ free agent big man Ekpe Udoh but Eric Pincus of Basketball Insiders points out the Clippers don’t have the cap room to sign a veteran.
Last season, Udoh averaged 3.4 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.0 block per game while shooting 39.9% from the field and 63.8% from the free throw line. He played in 41 games. In his four-year NBA career, the former Baylor Bear has put up 4.4 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game while shooting 42.8% from the field and 71.8% free throw line.
