NFL: 10 best backup quarterback situations
By Bryce Olin
6. Baltimore Ravens: Tyrod Taylor
I was tempted to put Taylor much higher on the list, as Joe Flacco has never missed a game in his entire NFL career. Then, it hit me: Maybe Taylor wants an opportunity? If that’s the case, then he’s probably in the wrong situation.
Even the worst of the worst second-string guys get thrust into the action once in a while. The least Flacco could have done was give Taylor the start when Flacco’s child was born. Instead, Flacco decided to miss the birth of his child to play a football game. I guess when you’re making as much guaranteed money as Flacco is ($52 million), you can’t just miss games anymore. Still, Flacco could have thrown Taylor a bone.
On the bright side, Taylor doesn’t have to worry about how the fans will react if he ever does get a shot with the Ravens. How can anyone blame him for not being ready to play? He hasn’t started a game in his three-year NFL career. All in all, Baltimore is a great place for a backup quarterback. It’s a great franchise with two super bowl wins in the last 15 years, and the backup quarterback doesn’t have to do anything, like, ever.
Someone should make a TV show based on what Tyrod Taylor does everyday. That is something I would definitely watch.
