4. Green Bay Packers: Matt Flynn

Show me a backup quarterback more loved by his fans more than Matt Flynn is loved by the Green Bay Packers’ fans. Seriously, show me. I can’t find another one.

When Aaron Rodgers broke his collarbone in Week 8 of the 2013 season. The Packers couldn’t find a suitable replacement for Rodgers and were forced to trade for Matt Flynn, a former backup for the team from 2008-11.

Flynn finished 2-2 as the starter and kept the Packers in position to make the playoffs until Week 17 when Rodgers took back over the starting job. The Packers clinched the division in the Week 17 win over the Bears, but none of it would have been possible without Flynn.

That praise might be a little too high for Flynn, who disappointed in stints with Seattle and Oakland before finding his way back to Green Bay. I can personally guarantee those fan bases want nothing to do with Flynn. It’s amazing how many teams will take a chance on you as a quarterback when you have one good passing performance in your career.

The pressure is getting a little higher this season for Flynn. He’s raised the bar for what the fans can expect of him with his play thus far. If Rodgers gets hurt, Flynn better bring it, or this great backup quarterback situation can go from great to very, very bad.
