Ray Allen Rumors: Veteran no longer has drive to play in NBA?
By Josh Hill
The future of NBA veteran Ray Allen isn’t looking all that bright but it seems to be by design. Allen hasn’t said much about his plans for a 19th season in the NBA, but so far it’s looking like we may have already seen Allen play his last game as a pro.

If Allen comes back, the belief is that he’s going to sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers but that’s no done deal as has been reported a few times in the past. Allen is still undecided and it wouldn’t be shocking at this point if he chose retirement over playing another year.
According to Steve Kyler from Basketball Insiders, there is the belief in Ray Allen’s camp that the veteran just doesn’t possess the drive anymore to play in the NBA anymore.
"There still remains a belief in his circle that Allen may no longer have the drive to get into the kind of playing shape he expects of himself and that the allure of spending time with his family is very real."
It’s easy to say that Allen should come back and play for the Cavaliers and try to retire on top. But even with Kevin Love the Cavs are no lock to win a title and beyond that the grueling physical grind of the season wears out even young players, not to mention those in their 19th season of grinding.
