Matt McGloin, QB, Oakland Raiders

Oakland’s undrafted underdog quarterback nearly helped lead the Raiders back into the playoff talks.  At least, for a week.

McGloin led the Raiders to a huge win at Houston in Week 10, throwing the first three touchdowns of his career with 197 yards on the day.

The success, however, was short-lived as the Raiders lost the next two games by a touchdown or less before losing to the Jets, then getting blown out in a shootout with the Chiefs in Week 14 and struggling against San Diego the week after.

A lot of the Raiders offensive struggles wasn’t on McGloin though, which can make some wonder what McGloin could’ve done if he had a better running game, let alone offensive line.

While the Rams offense isn’t much better than Oakland’s, having Zac Stacy and Tavon Austin around is a good start and something McGloin could build with.

So far this preseason, McGloin has been on fire for the Raiders, completing 54 percent of his passes (27-for-50) for 366 yards with three touchdowns, including throwing a game-winning touchdown in the final seconds against the Lions the the second preseason game.

And since McGloin is going to be the third string quarterback for the Raiders behind Matt Schaub and Derek Carr, he may not cost so much to acquire going into the season.
