The Minnesota Vikings named Matt Cassel their starting quarterback this week and drafted Teddy Bridgewater this spring to eventually be the franchise quarterback. But in all of this, one man was left in the dark as Christian Ponder is a man without a job at the moment.

More from Minnesota Vikings

Ponder was beat out as starter and again as backup meaning he’s the third string quarterback for the Vikings. Teams typically don’t carry three quarterbacks into the season which means Ponder may be out of a job soon. According to the Pioneer Press, Ponder isn’t going out to try and win over other teams and audition for them. Instead, the

"“I just want to go out and have a good game, not for an audition for another team or anything, but for myself and this team,” Ponder said. “Right now, my thoughts are securing a spot on this roster.”"

The thing is though, Ponder is indeed auditioning for other teams in the NFL as the Vikings are likely going to cut him or trade him before the season starts. So the fact that Ponder doesn’t seem to be aware that he’s the odd man out in Minnesota is pretty much the problem with why he’s not the future at quarterback.
