The hype is starting to build around the Cubs thanks to their stockpile of young prospects. With each moment like this one from the likes of Soler and Javier Baez, the volume only gets turned up louder on that hype.
This time of season can deliver excitement for baseball fans for two primary reasons. The first, and most obvious reason, is if their team is in contention. But for those teams that are out of it, there is some intrigue to be found in the promises of the future upon seeing top prospects in action for the first time.
This season there might be no team with more prospect buzz than the Cubs.
Soler was called up this week, in advance of September’s expanded rosters, after hitting .338 with 15 home runs and 54 driven in Triple-A. The 22-year-old Cuban will play in the outfield for the Cubs while slugging alongside his young colleagues and building up reasons for hope for the 2015 season and beyond.
