The Tennessee Titans made a significant commitment to defensive tackle Jurrell Casey on Wednesday, signing him to a $36 million contract.

While making a player that plenty of football fans probably aren’t too familiar with their highest made player might raise some eyebrows, Tennessee made the right move here.

Casey was fantastic this past season for the Titans, racking up 55 tackles, 10.5 sacks and a forced fumble. He was named second-team All-Pro as well.

Considering Casey’s youth (24), he’ll only become a better player throughout the life of this deal, making this potentially a value deal for the Titans.

Titans general manager Ruston Webster released a statement on the team’s official website about the deal:

"“We are excited to come to an agreement on an extension with Jurrell,” said Titans general manager Ruston Webster. “This is something Jurrell has earned not only with his play on the field but his work ethic as well. We appreciate Jurrell’s professionalism through this process and look forward to many good years to come.”"

The Titans drafted Casey out of USC with the No. 77 overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. His career totals are 161 tackles, four forced fumbles and 16 sacks.
