76ers Rumors: Joel Embiid may not play in 2014-15 season
By Josh Hill
The Philadelphia 76ers went out and drafted Joel Embiid with the No. 3 overall pick in this year’s draft but it may be some time before we see him in action.

Just like the 76ers did with Nerlens Noel last year, it may be that we see Embiid sit on the bench for an entire season before he debuts with the team. According to Bob Cooney of the Philadelphia Daily News, the 76res are still unsure that Joel Embiid will play at all in the 2014-15 season.
"“I don’t know at this point. Right now, he’s in Philly and visiting with a variety of our medical professionals and going through tests,” said Sam Hinkie.“He’ll get a good baseline and then we’ll put together a rehab plan. He’s still in a boot. He was shooting threes on one leg in our gym [Monday]. I don’t know how it will play out.”"
This comes on the heels of reports that Embiid might indeed play this year at some point, but it’s still far too early to tell. If he does play, it likely won’t be until later on in the season as there’s no need to rush Embiid into action. That being said though, if this year is another wash for the 76ers, it might be better to not stash Embiid and give him playing time that could make him better right away in 2015-16 when things might start to matter more.
