The rumors surrounding the Cleveland Cavaliers and Denver Nuggets’ center Timofey Mozgov have really heated up. Now that the Cavaliers have added the game’s best player, forward LeBron James, and another star, power forward Kevin Love, they would like to land a player like Mozgov to help protect rim. They have reportedly been pursuing Mozgov for some time.

More from Cleveland Cavaliers

Although he has said they are nothing more than rumors, Mozgov is interested in playing for the Cavaliers – he played for new Cavaliers’ coach David Blatt on the Russian national team.

“Of course, it would be interesting to play for David Blatt’s team,” Mozgov told Boris Khodorovsky of ITAR-TASS as translated by Alexander Chernykh of Rush’n Hoops. “I know his coaching philosophy well, after working with him on Russian national team. The thing you like about Blatt is that he always sets the highest goals for himself and for the team.”

Mozgov is also interested in playing with James.

“I would like to play with LeBron,” Mozgov said. “But even though playing for a contender is cool, you got to understand that I want to be part of the team and not to just join a contender and ride the coattails, being a burden.”

Mozgov took McGee’s spot and went for 9.4 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game. He shot 52.3% from the field, 16.7% from beyond the arc and 75.4% from the free throw line. Over the course of his four-year career, Mozgove has averaged 6.0 points, 4.4 rebounds and 0.9 blocks per game while shooting 51.5% from the field, 15.4% from three and 73.9% from the charity stripe.
