It can be argued that they indeed made a name for themselves last year despite missing the playoffs, as the Cardinals are a team to watch in 2014 thanks to how well they ended the season a year ago. One player hoping to make a big impact in this upcoming season is Tyrann Mathieu, who is doing an excellent job of reviving his career following some pitfalls off the field at LSU.
According to the Cardinals official site, the safety will once again be allowed to tackle in practice this upcoming week.
"Rehabbing safety Tyrann Mathieu will tackle during the Cardinals’ one padded practice next week heading into the Sept. 8 season opener against the Chargers. Will he play? Coach Bruce Arians left that door cracked for now, but asked about his statement that Mathieu would have needed to play in Thursday’s game in order to play a week from Monday, Arians quickly said “I wasn’t kidding.”"
Mathieu’s season was cut short last year thanks to an ACL injury but his sophomore campaign is looking like it could be huge for the safety. He’s part of a growing defensive unit that is trying to keep up with the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks, which in of itself makes the unit even better than most out in the league at the moment.
