The Dallas Cowboys decided to ride it out with head coach Jason Garrett for another season, surprising some that owner Jerry Jones didn’t fire him after consecutive 8-8 seasons and no playoff appearances.

Garrett’s last shot with the Cowboys hasn’t gotten off to a great start, with the Cowboys going 0-4 in the preseason. The Cowboys would honestly just be happy to get into the playoffs, maybe even with a single win in the playoffs, though they wouldn’t admit it. They always try to through their hats in the Super Bowl contention discussion every year though they haven’t come close for decades.

And no team who has gone 0-4 in the preseason has won the Super Bowl in the last 20 years.

But the bigger concern is whether the Cowboys can even get back to 8-8 after the way things looking in the preseason. Garrett isn’t letting his confidence waver though, and had a simple message in regards to the upcoming season.

“We will be ready,’’ Garrett said, via the Dallas Morning News.

If the Cowboys get off to the same slow start in the season as they have in the preseason, it just becomes a count down until Jerry Jones axes him.
