Friday morning UCF unveiled a new special edition helmet for their game against Penn State that Americans will see in the morning on Saturday because it will be taking place in Ireland.

The helmet displays a pot of gold on the side above the classic UCF letters with two four-leaf clovers above the gold. The helmet is very original and has the chance to start a new trend with college football teams. Themed helmets seem to be the next thing to add to college football’s constantly changing uniforms. We could be seeing themed helmets for bowl games or other types of rivalries and tradition games.

Both Penn State and UCF missed out on the preseason AP top 25 poll, but UCF received the most votes outside the top 25 with 94 points. The teams met last year in Sept. at Penn State where Blake Bortles and UCF took home a 34-31 victory.

Penn State will player under new coach James Franklin and will enter their second year led by sophomore quarterback Christian Hackenberg who had an impressive freshman year.

UCF comes into the game without superstar quarterback Blake Bortles who was selected third overall in the 2014 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars in May. UCF capped off an impressive season with a 52-42 Fiesta Bowl win over Baylor last season and looks to continue the offensive power.

UCF is a one-point favorite to win the game and we’ll see if their flashy new helmets will help propel them to a win.
