Greece and Senegal square off on Saturday morning at Palacio Municipal De Deportes San Pablo in the Group Stage of the 2014 FIBA World Cup.
On paper, Greece has the better squad with a trio of NBA players — Nick Calathes (Memphis Grizzlies), Kostas Papanikolaou (Houston Rockets) and Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Bucks) Greece should be favored to advance out of their group.
For Senegal, the lone NBA player is Gorgui Deng of the Minnesota Timberwolves. However, Senegal does have two other players who are currently playing in the United States at the collegiate level — Maurice Ndour (Ohio University) and Thierno Niang (University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee).
Both teams are members of Group B, which also includes Croatia, Philippines, Puerto Rico and Argentina.
All six teams in the group will play against each other before Sept. 4, with the top four teams in the group after five games advancing to the elimination round of the tournament which is being hosted in Spain.
