The play of redshirt freshman quarterback J.T. Barrett will be one of the key storylines during the opening weekend of college football and throughout the entire regular season. Barrett is replacing senior Braxton Miller. Miller, a two-time Big 10 Player of the Year, who tore his labrum and had surgery to repair the tear on Tuesday.

The Buckeyes were projected as the favorite in the Big 10 and a trendy pick to make the inaugural College Football Playoff but after Miller went down, most have soured on the Buckeyes and have labeled the Michigan State Spartans, who defeated the Buckeyes in last year’s Big 10 Title Game, as the favorite to win the conference.
The Buckeyes also have to replace running back Carlos Hyde, who rushed for 1,521 yards last season. However, this is still a Buckeye team that has recruited very well under Meyer so there is plenty of talent and they have been instilled as a 16-point favorite over the Midshipmen.
Navy will be led by junior quarterback Keenan Reynolds, who was fantastic last season. He completed 68-of-128 passes for 1,057 yards with eight touchdowns and two interceptions and rushed for 1,346 yards and 31 touchdowns on 300 carries.
