Expectations are once again sky high for the Oklahoma Sooners as they prepare to open the 2014 season against the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs on Saturday.

More from College Football

The Sooners had a couple of bad losses in 2013, falling to the Texas Longhorns and Baylor Bears, but finished the season strong, defeating the rival Oklahoma State Cowboys in Bedlam and taking down the Alabama Crimson Tide in the Sugar Bowls. Those impressive performances is what has led to the hype and their lofty preseason ranking (The Sooners enter the season as the fourth-ranked team in the country).

Quarterback Trevor Knight’s performance against the Crimson Tide has led many to believe he in for a huge season and could emerge as a legitimate Heisman Trophy contender. Knight thought he may be throwing to one of the best receivers in college football in former Missouri Tigers’ wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham but he was not granted a waiver and is not eligible to play. Knight will, however, have a new target in Blake Bell. Bell, better know to some as The Belldozer, is a former quarterback but with Knight firmly entrenched as the Sooners’ starter, he has moved to tight end.

The Bulldogs, on the other hand, will be starting a new quarterback – Iowa Hawkeyes’ transfer Cody Sokol.
