Pittsburgh WR Tyler Boyd dislocates finger, will not return vs. Delaware
By Jack Crosby
The Pittsburgh Panthers are beginning their 2014 college football season on Saturday afternoon at home against the Delaware, and what some believe could be a run toward the ACC Coastal Championship. Even though the game is well away from being over, the Panthers are cruising in this one, although they do have an injury scare to arguably their best player, wide receiver Tyler Boyd.
In the first half, Boyd went down on a play, and he then went off to the locker room. Well upon further evaluation, it’s been discovered that he suffered a dislocated finger on his left hand, and he will not return to the field for the second half of play.
In that first half, Boyd was already on his way to showing how big of an impact he can make for this team, catching a 14-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Chad Voytik. But his afternoon of catching passes is over for today.

Boyd burst onto the scene as a true freshman for Pitt last season, catching 85 balls for 1,174 yards and seven touchdowns. Some have him pegged as a Heisman darkhorse for this year, but now we will have to see how much time could be missed due to this injury on Saturday.
We’ll have more information on the injury to Boyd as it becomes available.
