The Cardinal (1-0) held the Aggies (0-1) to just 115 total yards. UC Davis only got the ball into Stanford territory once all game—when quarterback London Lacy completed a nine-yard pass to Justin Williams to the Stanford 48 on the game’s final play.

Stanford was a bit sloppy with the ball, turning it over three times on two lost fumbles and Hogan’s pick.

Junior running back Barry Sanders led the ground attack for the Cardinal with 43 yards on seven carries—no Stanford ball carrier had more than seven attempts as the team finished with 149 yards on the ground.

Stanford scored the first time it touched the ball as senior receiver Ty Montgomery caught a punt and returned it 60 yards for a touchdown after the Cardinal held UC Davis to a three-and-out on the game’s first drive.

Montgomery had a big day for Stanford, finishing with five catches for 77 yards and a touchdown, two punt returns for 74 yards and a score and one rush for eight yards.

Quarterback Kevin Hogan was efficient for the Cardinal, completing 12-of-16 for 204 yards and three touchdowns with one interception. Hogan also scored a touchdown on the ground.

The Cardinal made it 14-0 late in the first period as Hogan capped a 12-play, 67-yard march with a one-yard sneak.

Stanford put up 24 points in the final 9:10 of the first half, scoring on a 40-yard pass from Hogan to Michael Rector, a 52-yard pass from Hogan to Christian McCaffrey a 44-yard connection between Hogan and Montgomery and a 32-yard field goal by Jordan Williamson as time expired.

The Cardinal capped the scoring midway through the fourth quarter on a 14-yard pass from Evan Crower to Austin Hooper.

Lacy was 12-for-22 for 54 yards and two interceptions for UC Davis while Williams ran 11 times for 36 yards.

Perhaps UC Davis’ busiest player was punter Colby Wadman, who booted the ball 11 times.
