5. Miami Dolphins

One team that could use some depth at the defensive end position is the Dolphins. They currently are working with Cameron Wake and Dion Jordan as their primary pass rushers, but there are some doubts surrounding the future of their pass rush with Jordan having a very inconsistent rookie season last year. Could Sam head into Miami and figure out a way to put his name in consideration to take over some playing time if Jordan is unable to take a step forward in 2014?

Both players have raw potential, but both players also have a lot of work to do before they reach their full potential. It isn’t likely that Sam would steal any playing time with Miami this season, barring injury, but he would be a very solid depth pickup. He would obviously come on a cheap contract, and the Dolphins are very much interested in young talent.

Sam would likely fit very well into the Dolphins’ franchise and future plans, and it would bring some positive media attention to their franchise. They are coming off of the ugly Richie Incognito situation, and perhaps the addition of Sam would help heal those wounds. It doesn’t seem likely that the Dolphins will submit a claim for him, but they are one team that has plenty of reasons to take a look at him.
