3. Oakland Raiders

The Raiders wouldn’t have any use for Sam this coming season, but they could look at picking him up in order to groom him for the future. Oakland made quite a few moves in free agency this past offseason, and ended up signing Justin Tuck and LaMarr Woodley. Both of those players would be able to take Sam under their wings and teach him some things about the game.

Sam doesn’t appear to be ready to step on an NFL field to start the regular season, and the Raiders would be able to give him a roster spot while allowing him to learn from the sideline. If Sam was able to learn the mental side of things from Tuck and Woodley while working hard on his strength and football skills, he would be a very good player in a year or two.

Oakland is the type of team that is always looking to bring in more talent when it’s available, and this is one of those situations. It wouldn’t be surprising to see the Raiders throw a claim on Sam and try to develop him for the future. Extra media attention isn’t something that Dennis Allen and the Raiders really worry about, and that would be a good fit with the media storm that would follow Sam.
