Based on the 53-man rosters that came out of cut down day Saturday, the St. Louis Rams will have the youngest team in the NFL for the third straight season.

According to Philly.com, the 53 players on the Rams’ roster have an average age of 25.09, a slight increase over 2013’s average of 24.98, but still the lowest average age in the league.

This information comes with the caveat that teams’ 53-man rosters on cut down day may or may not bear a moderate resemblance to the 53-man rosters they will open the season with next weekend.

The Jacksonville Jaguars were second on the list at 25.2 (down from fifth at 25.41 in 2013), the Kansas City Chiefs were third at 25.34 (eighth, 25.68 in 2013), the Dallas Cowboys are fourth at 25.44 (15th, 26.0 in 2013) and the Minnesota Vikings came in fifth at 25.68 (13th, 25.96 in 2013).

The Oakland Raiders were the NFL’s oldest team at an average age of 27.0. The Raiders were in the middle of the pack last season at 17th (26.11).

The New York Giants were the second-oldest at 26.75 (27th, 26.66 in 2013), the Chicago Bears 30th at 26.72 (29th, 26.77 in 2013), the Indianapolis Colts 29th at 26.66 (24th, 26.55 in 2013) and the San Diego Chargers 28th at 26.64 (21st, 26.28 in 2013).

The author, Jimmy Kempski, also took pains to point out the most common comment he gets on the survey:

"“The difference between the Rams and Raiders is only 1.91 years. Big whoop.”"

As Kempski points out, that’s the average per player. So the Raiders are more than 101 years older than the Rams in total.

That might be at least a moderate-sized whoop.
