At this point of your fantasy baseball season, you need the bounces to go your way. You probably have some guys with bumps and bruises. If those guys with injuries are playing for teams fighting to get into the playoffs, then chances are they will push through the pain. If you have some arms that are dead, then streaming might be the way to go.

Here are some fantasy baseball thoughts to keep you occupied on Labor Day.

Batters:

  • Jose Bautista…he hasn’t had to deal with many bumps or bruises this year, and it shows in his numbers.
  • It’s September in St. Louis, and Matt Holliday is doing what Cardinals do at this time of the year, pisses me off.
  • Speaking of stepping up, the Giants tend to do this every other year, and Buster Posey is leading this biennial event.
  • Bryce Harper, doing just enough late in the season to continue to be overhyped heading into next year.
  • Trevor Plouffe likes to go through streaks, and if fantasy owners can time it right, there is sneaky value to be had there.
  • Billy Hamilton, he’s a keeper.
  • Arismendy Alcantara and Jorge Soler gave Cubbie fans a little more reason to say, “next year is our year”, probably not you guys but at least you have more than one or two guys worth owning in fantasy at that time, congrats on that.
  • Josh Harrison, he is 27 years old, and he is the new Martin Prado.
  • Give Mookie Betts another look in deep league or AL formats.
  • Chris Carter, not in the playoff chase, but he needs 7 home runs in the last month to get 40, you know he is swinging for it, keep him in your lineup.
  • Jacoby Ellsbury had a monster week even with missing the last two games with an ankle. As soon as he is back in the Yanks lineup, get him back in yours.
  • Wilson Ramos, if you could ever stay healthy for a full year, think of the magical unicorn type things you could do for a fantasy owner.

Pitchers:

  • Matt Shoemaker is in the zone right now, jump on board!
  • Adam Wainwright going through a little bit of dead arm right now
  • Scott Kazmir, they have not said it, but he has been looking a little dead lately too.
  • Max Scherzer, has not had a quality start in his last three trips to the bump.
  • Alex Wood, nothing wrong with his arm.
  • Danny Duffy continues to deal, but his xFIP of 4.42 is not that trustworthy.
  • I have complained a lot about Mike Minor this year, but his 3.24 ERA in August was only that high because of a 5 earned run performance at San Diego. Since then, four straight quality starts, might be time to forgive and forget.
  • Andrew Cashner is back, and like Minor disappointed a lot of owners this season, but it’s time to get over that and let him help the late season cause.
  • Vidal Nuno continues to be a good stream against NL teams.
  • A.J. Burnett apparently still has a little left in the tank. If you need some late season K’s, here is your guy.
  • Is Tyson Ross the second best pitcher in California? Discuss…
  • Yes Madison Bumgarner, I know you pitch in California too, you had a stellar week, but Tyson Ross people!
  • Shane Greene, is it possible to be under-hyped as a New York Yankee? Discuss…
